How do you talk to yourself?
What do you tell yourself about what you want and your ability to get it?
What words do you use?
And are they helping or hindering you?
These are just a few of the questions to ask yourself if you’re feeling deflated or insecure about your business (and therefore your life, right?)
In the online space we talk regularly about mindset work.
About the importance of doing it daily to give ourselves the best chance to achieve personal success and fulfilment in our life and business.
And help ourselves maintain positive energy on this path when the potholes appear, as they inevitably do.
I am 100 gazillion per cent (real number 🤣) on board with the belief that mindset is one of the more, if not the most, important aspects of achieving whatever it is we want to achieve whether in our businesses or our lives in general (I hope you are too. If not, let’s chat, because you might be giving yourself a hard time unnecessarily).
When I started doing mindset work I spent some time thinking about where impact on our mindset starts.
On a macro level we could talk about the environmental influences,
(Let’s! Over drinks? Sounds like a great way to spend a DAY/EVENING, yes?)
but I’m really meaning on an individual level (because that’s where we have, always and forever, all the power).
For me the impact on my mindset starts with the words I (and sometimes others) use to describe my thoughts, feelings and circumstances.
Here’s the thing,
We can trace a direct line from our internal dialogue to our beliefs about ourselves, the actions we take in our lives and the results we achieve.
It’s so important, therefore, that this line runs from supportive internal dialogue through a supportive mindset and positive action to our goal, whatever our goal may be.
If you regularly tell yourself, ‘I’m so stupid,’ when you make a mistake or you think, ‘I’m just not up to this,’ when things aren’t working out as you want them to, not only is it not true, you’re reinforcing the nasties that we want your mindset work to get rid of.
